Easter Pics

Image
One of my favorite things to do is to take pictures.  I mean, I'm always taking pictures with my phone, who isn't?  But I love taking pictures with my camera!  And Easter Sunday always proves to be a fun day for some photo's! Asher is not a huge fan of pictures at the moment.  Let me rephrase that.  He'll take a picture, but only if he is sticking out his tongue or making a mad face or pointing his hiney at me.  These sweet pictures of him smiling are hard to come by!  Maybe I just need to start embracing the silly pictures..  knowing that this stage will pass way to fast. Hannah on the other hand..  loves posing for pictures.  And goodness, I love taking her picture!  She was about 5 days out from splitting her forehead open and needing 4 stitches.  Brave girl.  So, these pictures are special..  I'll look at them and remember those moments of the blood, and deciding if we should take her to the ...

Well, that didn't go as planned.

I had planned on blogging through lent.  ya know..  On Holy things.  on God things.  It was lent.  And then life happened..  Life as in Kidney stones and a procedure on my 40th birthday that landed me in the hospital overnight.  And then in the hospital for another 3 days.  And my husband became a single parent..  working, parenting, visiting his wife, parenting some more.  And suddently lent got lost and instead of seeking the holiness in the waiting, I waited for answers and diagnoses and medicine and drs.  Life happens. But maybe, maybe,  that is where the holiness happens too.  Maybe it is in living our life, the ups and downs, the trials and the joys, the unexpected, the turning 40; that we become holy. Maybe it is in the moments when God himself brings the calm in the midst of the storm that we stand amongst holineness.  Perhaps it is in the hours that friends watch your kids so your husband can sleep and t...

The Hope of Lent

Image
For many, Lent is a time of giving up..  giving up chocolate or soda.. (both of which I could  do and maybe should   do.)  Giving up TV or facebook or eating out..  coffee..  Something that is a sacrfice.  And sometimes, you make it the 40 days and sometimes..  you don't.  I don't.  So, I generally don't give things up.  Which means, most years, I do nothing during Lent.  nothing more, nothing less..  lent happens and Easter comes and I'm not any closer to Jesus then I was before. This year, I want more.  I want something different.  I want meaning and growth and intention.  So this year, I'm commiting to more time in the Scripture and more time in Worship and more time in intimate prayer with my Savior.  And to hold me accountable to that, and to maybe encourage others as well, more time on this blog..  I'd like to title this all 40 days of blogging, but I don't have 40 days worth of words...

From God, To God: A reflection on Ash Wednesday

Image
It's Ash Wednesday today.  The first day of Lent, the first steps of a journey towards betrayel, accusation, sentencing, death and ultimately a Resurrection of miracles.  It's an important day in the life of the church as we take on an attitude of preparation and reflection and a pointing to God.  A reminder today that we came from God and we return to God.  Everyday. Everyday we are need of redemption.  And Everyday God so graciously offers it to us.  Redemption. Forgiveness, a making new of our minds and our attitudes and our hearts.  A redemption of words. and thoughts and actions. It's an intentional time to reflect not just on what God, through Jesus Christ has done and will do, but a time for looking inwards, to our own hearts and determining what needs work.  How can I love more?  Where is kindness in my life and with whom do I need to be more kind?  What habits or attitudes are getting in the way of my seeing Christ in my...

A late goodbye to 2015

Image
I know!  It's nearly February and I think I'm still in denial that it is even 2016.  Maybe it has something to do with turning 40 this year?!  I'm not even sure how I feel about that.  I mean, most days I'm still back in the 90's and like 30 pounds lighter.. How about some highlights from 2015 instead?  We can't move on to a new year without reflecting back on the prior year can we?  So what did happen in 2015? Some hanging out in the cold.  And snow.  Wait..  we're doing that in 2016 too!    And when it got warm we explored some of our favorite places  (Longwood Gardens, White Clay Creek State Park, Our very own backyard! ) There was soccer and Kindergarten Graduation.    (So fun having them on the same team!) We vacationed.  :) Someone rode horses And someone turned 7!  ...
