What I learned in August

Image
I have read on occasion a blog by Emily Freeman  who has a serious of "What I have learned" blog posts.  Her latest - What I have learned in August.  I thought I would join in!  Here are a few things I have learned!   1. How nice it is to have days where you are home ALL DAY LONG.  This summer was busy.  And it included a lot of being out..  I think it was August before we had a day where we didn't have to go anywhere.  And ya'll..  it was glorious!  I'm a home body.  Asher is a home body.  Hannah.. - not so much.  It's a balance, but I long for days of just being home.  Who is with me?  2. I'm not a runner, swimmer or biker..  unless it's for fun.  My husband on the other hand..  all about the training and the challenge and the competition.  He participated in a triathlon in mid August.  The swim wasn't bad.  I didn't see the hills that were a part of the b...

When summer winds down

Image
It is still hot, sometimes muggy.  Those pesky mosquito's are still out nimbling on ankles and elbows and my big toe but the nights begin to feel a little cooler....  when summer starts to wind down. The back to school lists are long, the school supply section at the stores are crowded and little people are picking colors for folders and crayons and lunchboxes...  all when summer starts to wind down. We have found out what teachers we have, and we see the end...  the days are numbered and the air is mixed with both excited anticipation and a sweet bitterness of summers end, as summer starts to wind down. That September calendar comes out and fills in, there is talk of Thanksgiving and Christmas plans as the sunblock bottles start to go empty, when summer starts to wind down. New crispy jeans are bought and new soft sweaters feel so tempting to put on.  Bathing suits are put away in exchange for long sleeves.  Cleats are pulled out for soccer. ...

A Sunday Verse

"THIS is the day the Lord                                              Has Made                           Let us REJOICE  and be GLAD   in it!"                                                                                    - Psalm 118:24 What can you rejoice in today?!

Thieves are a few of my favorite things..

So, it's been nearly a  year since I have begun adding the use of Young Living's Essential Oils into our daily life.  And we are all (hubby included) loving them.  With school starting back up soon, I thought I'd tell you a little bit about one of my favorite oils!   THIEVES!  This lovely oil blend was inspired by four 15th century French thieves who formulated a special aromatic combination composed of clove, rosemary, and other botanicals they used while robbing the dead and dying.  How's that for a fun tidbit of information!?   Basically - Thieves may help to support your immune system and help to fight germs.  We mom's need this!  So many ways to use Thieves.   Ingest. - put in a capsule and swallow away.  Young Living's Oils are 100% therapuetic oils.  There is NOTHING added to them, making them safe and useful in ingestion.  You can also gargle water with it..  put a drop under your tongue. ...

Summer Time

Image
I love summer.  Really.  I love the kids NOT being in school.  I love the freedom to up and go as we need or want.  I love the more laid back feeling that summer offers.  Only this summer has not felt laid back at all!  It has felt BUSY.  And Exhausting!  Ugh.. But, we have done some fun things.    1.  We went on vacation with family!  Beach, Cousins, Bike Rides, Swimming, Movies, Books, Walks....  we checked out a totally new place this summer - Cape Charles, VA and it was lovely!  I'll do another post shortly on what Cape Charles is like.   :) 2. We visited  Longwood Gardens  and saw the lily pads! 3. We celebrated this boy turning 7.   oh my goodness!  4.  We have ridden horses and gone to horse camp.   5.  We have hiked while sister is at horse camp  AND..   we have been away on a miss...

Starting New

Image
I decided to start new with a blog.  Mainly because my old blog was connected to an old email address and I couldn't figure out a way to switch it and it didn't feel streamlined to me.  Ya know.. when everything is connected to one place.. i.e - gmail..  and that one blog was connected elsewhere... I was signing out, signing in..   and I feel done with that.  So, starting over, or new, or again..  whichever you want to call it.  So..  here we are. The title - Threads of Grace.  It's been with me a while..  learning how to thread grace all throughout my life.  Grace over little ones,  Grace in marriage, in friendships..  in family.  Grace as I answer questions, and teach right and wrong.  Grace in living as imperfectly as I do.  Christ covers me in His grace and it is my true desire that in all I do, I live a life of grace. So, here I will share life.  I'll tell stories of mothering.  I ...
